Highlights from Georgia Tech's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's Institute Lecture
The 2013 commemoration of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. At the Georgia Institute of Technology encompasses the most ambitious slate of events ever organized by the Institute. The week-long activities include various educational programs and service opportunities to encourage active participation in the celebration by the campus and nearby community.
As the nation celebrated the unveiling of the new monument honoring Dr. King on the Mall in Washington, D.C. last year, it seems quite fitting that, as an academic institution dedicated to excellence in research and education, Georgia Tech should re-dedicate itself in a far more robust way to the enduring values and legacies of this native son. Most certainly, Dr. King is an Atlanta-born hero of whom we are very proud, but he is also an international exemplar of courageous leadership, a person who serves as inspiration for us all in support of an ongoing global struggle for social justice, social courage, and sustainable social change. We are pleased to honor his life and work and to acknowledge that the journey continues.
